About The Position

The position provides technical support for pharmacists and clinicians to ensure safe and effective transitions in care at admission and discharge, supporting medication reconciliation and discharge pharmacy services. The role involves collaboration with the patient care team and attendance at required in-services and skills development courses. The individual is expected to uphold the hospital's key values and be a team player at all times. This is a PRN (as needed) position with variable shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, located at the Winston Campus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technology course preferred.
  • One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • PTCB technician certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of employment.
  • PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) within 180 days of employment or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School.

Responsibilities

  • Helps pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to ensure patients and departments receive the right medications on time and are charged correctly.
  • Works well with others and organizes daily tasks for maximum efficiency.
  • Helps maintain medicine stock in good condition to ensure quality drugs and supplies are always available.
  • Offers pharmacy services in patient care areas.
  • Participates in team efforts to improve quality and supports the Pharmacy Department's commitment to Total Quality principles.
  • Keeps knowledge and skills up to date and assists in educating others.
  • Sets personal goals to support quality improvement and departmental objectives.
  • Follows hospital standards to create a positive work environment through good communication, relationships, and teamwork.
  • Provides care tailored to different age groups as per Age Specific Care Guidelines.
