Under the direct supervision of the Area Director or a Registered Pharmacist and according to the standard procedures, the pharmacy technician compounds and readies for dispensing medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving orders from physicians or other qualified prescribers. The technician maintains the drug inventory, maintains records, processes patient charge documents and labels, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique, inspects medication units, and performs various other related duties. Pharmacy technicians do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
