  • Prepare intravenous admixtures or other sterile products (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition).
  • Fill physician orders/prescriptions, medication carts, or stock requisitions.
  • Fill daily restock request and appropriately document in the compounding software.
  • Assist with cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of compounding equipment.
  • Answer telephones and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide technical support for automated equipment.
  • Maintain logs, records and other required documentation.
  • File documentation in the appropriate location.
  • Complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly.
  • Identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs.
  • Monitor assigned quality improvement indicators of individual or departmental performance.
  • Stock medications and supplies; package medications as required for dispensing.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
  • Collaborate with immediate pharmacy team, insurance companies and customers alike to resolve issues, ensure accuracy and deliver a timely resolution of any medication or insurance related concern.
  • Assist with a variety of basic clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist (e.g., medication safety and adherence initiatives, patient follow up calls).
  • Efficient operation and basic level of technical support for specialty machinery, equipment, devices or software necessary in performing job functions (e.g., carousels, automated dispensing cabinets, compounders, drug delivery devices, retail pharmacy systems).
  • Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas.
  • Complete and document all assigned safety and quality activities in compliance with department procedures.
  • Prepare IV solutions using aseptic technique and/or compound non-sterile medications at select locations.
  • Manage individual responsibilities while supporting team members and contributing to broader team goals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program, or acceptance into pharmacy school, or high school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.
  • For Pharmacy Tech II: Minimum of one year related experience.
  • Must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within the first 180 days for Pharmacy Tech I.
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration is required for Pharmacy Tech II.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification is required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
