About The Position

Assist pharmacist in preparing prescriptions and medication orders. Process, prepare, scan, fill and label medication, make many nontechnical judgmental decisions, pre-pack medications for dispensing and maintain daily logs. Service and stock robotics and automated dispensing cabinets, reconstitute and compound oral medication, dispense medication to patients, mail medication, electronically requests refills from providers, return medications to stock, and call patients. Maintain clean and orderly workstations, equipment, and medication preparation areas. Greets patients and provides exceptional customer service in person, while answering the phone and in the drive-thru. May review electronic health records as appropriate for patient care. Serve as an interdepartmental liaison and pharmacy and patient advocate. Tahlequah campus technicians only: Complete inpatient training. Complete extensive education in sterile compounding following USP cleanroom guidelines for IV, IM, subcutaneous and epidural preparation. Perform biannual finger-tip and media fill testing, perform terminal cleanroom cleaning, appropriately garb, aseptically stock the sterile compounding cleanroom, and abide by policies and procedures to utilize sterile compounding hoods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions.
  • Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Pharmacy Technician Permit within 60 days of employment as a Pharmacy Technician as specified by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
