About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in filling prescriptions and preparing IV admixtures by interpreting, transcribing, and preparing medication(s) for dispensing. This role builds upon the skills and competencies of the Pharmacy Technician I and II as part of a professional career pathway. The technician will be responsible for competency in the requirements of Pharmacy Technician II as well as additional duties specific to outpatient retail pharmacy or hospital/infusion pharmacy. The position requires effective communication skills, self-motivation, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• Permanent Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with the State of Michigan.
• 5 or more years of relevant pharmacy experience in a hospital, retail pharmacy, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills in mathematics and basic algebra.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fills orders with appropriate medications for review and approval by a Registered Pharmacist.
• Performs a variety of related technical, clerical, and supply duties.
• Supports the bedside medication delivery program, including obtaining patient home medication histories and coordinating medication delivery.
• Assists with specialty pharmacy program support, including coordination of shipping and inventory management.
• Compounds chemotherapy following institutional policies and protocols.
• Conducts advanced level home medication histories for admission reconciliation.
• Manages advanced level pharmacy buying and automated dispensing cabinet configuration.
• Monitors controlled substance diversion and manages advanced inventory.
