About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician position at Sanford Health involves preparing medications under the direction of a pharmacist. Responsibilities include measuring, mixing, counting out, labeling, and recording amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. In a retail/community pharmacy setting, the duties consist of assisting pharmacists in compounding, preparing, and dispensing medical prescriptions to the public. The technician must maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs, ensure that equipment is functioning properly, and assist in resolving equipment maintenance and repair issues. Additionally, the technician controls inventory stock levels and timelines to ensure adequate supplies, assists with billing functions, and may help with departmental quality assurance and other customer- or patient-focused services. In a medical center or institutional setting, the duties include unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, compounding, and using automated dispensing devices. The position requires proficiency in multiple computer programs and good communication skills.
