About The Position

As an Operating Room Pharmacy Technician at Michigan Medicine, you will work within a highly collaborative team that includes Pharmacists, Pharmacy Managers, Technician Supervisors and other medical professionals. You will play a vital role in supporting and providing exceptional care for our patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program is desirable
  • Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
  • Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile products, injections and IV chemotherapy for use during the peri-operative period
  • Deliver medications as needed to surgical rooms
  • Correctly distribute and account for controlled substance usage
  • Assist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilization
  • Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory
  • Fill Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
  • Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals
  • Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols
  • Assist with training of staff
  • Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications
