The Pharmacy Technician – Community supports daily operations within an open-door outpatient pharmacy serving a broad patient population. This role is responsible for filling prescriptions, managing inventory, stocking medications, answering phones, and assisting customers at the register. Working as part of a collaborative team, the technician helps ensure efficient workflow, accurate medication distribution, and a positive patient experience. A caregiver in this role will work various day shifts. Only two technicians on the weekends and they rotate about every 5th weekend. They would get off another weekday when working a weekend. This Pharmacy is open: 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday Closed Sundays 9am to 1pm on Saturdays

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP). Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.   • It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
