About The Position

Maxor National Pharmacy Services is now accepting applications for a full time, customer service focused Pharmacy Technician to work the day shift within the City of Hope (formerly the Cancer Treatment Center of America) In hospital Retail Pharmacy in Zion, IL. City of Hope is a comprehensive cancer treatment hospital located in Zion, Illinois, midway between Chicago and Milwaukee. At the Chicago hospital, experienced doctors, Magnet®-recognized nurses and other clinicians work together in one location, providing integrative cancer treatment tailored to each patient. City of Hope (formerly CTCA) has experts with years of experience treating common, rare and complex cancers. Their expertise comes from working exclusively with cancer patients. The retail pharmacy is managed by Maxor National Pharmacy Services headquartered in Amarillo, TX.

Requirements

  • Current PTCB and State of IL Pharmacy Technician license.
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior pharmacy tech experience in a retail setting preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.
  • Provide friendly and cooperative customer service.
  • Enter patient data accurately.
  • Answer telephones quickly and with courtesy.
  • Operate the cash register and ring sales.
  • Pull and count medication from shelves accurately according to label generated at time of dispensing for final check by Pharmacist.
  • Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs for Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy staff meetings, in-service educational programs and other committees and functions as required by the facility and pharmacy department.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Assist in inventory control such as auditing receipt of goods, inventorying, stocking, pricing, monitoring usage, and correcting pricing and quantities in the computer.
  • Remove, pick up, and/or deliver drug orders if necessary.
  • Inform patients of any notations on prescription bag.
  • Inform the pharmacist of any alerts from the pharmacy system, such as contraindications, interactions, and allergies.
  • Enter and maintain non-preferred drug requests in the PA system.
  • Verify NDC number to pull and count medications from shelves.
  • Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.
  • Issue supplies to other pharmacies or departments as needed.
  • Pre-pack and document medications accurately as needed.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.
  • Maintain regular attendance according to established policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
  • Comply with Maxor's Ethical Business Conduct policy and Maxor's Compliance Program.
  • Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  • Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
