About The Position

St. Croix Health is looking for a casual Certified Pharmacy Tech to work in our retail stores. Shifts are Monday through Friday, day hours. Requirement of two shifts per month. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining accurate drug inventory, and ensuring proper documentation of pharmacy activities. All tasks are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required within 12 months of hire
  • Must be registered in Wisconsin to work in a pharmacy at time of hire
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities
  • Able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
  • Able to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to requests
  • Fosters a team environment
  • Self-directed and highly engaged, but also able to work well in a team
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solving
  • Able to work cooperatively and effectively with providers, staff, and patients

Responsibilities

  • Process Prescriptions
  • Receive new prescriptions and refill requests, verifying the information for accuracy and completeness
  • Process prescriptions through insurance systems, resolving rejections or coverage issues as needed
  • Prepare and package bulk medications, fill prescription bottles and affix appropriate labels in accordance with legal and safety standards
  • File prescriptions and maintain accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance and ease of retrieval
  • Mix or compound pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescription, formula, or pharmacist instructions, ensuring proper technique and documentation.
  • Medication Stock and Inventory
  • Maintain appropriate storage conditions and security protocols for all medications in accordance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Order, receive, label and count medications, chemicals and pharmacy supplies
  • Update inventory records in the pharmacy information system to ensure accurate tracking and stock control
  • Customer Service
  • Assist customer by answering routine questions, help locating items, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist when appropriate
  • Answer telephone inquires promptly and courteously, directing calls to the appropriate personnel as needed
  • Operate the cash register to process payments accurately, including handling cash, credit or electronic transactions, and providing receipt to customer.
