About The Position

The pharmacy technician is the professional responsible for receiving and processing prescriptions. They must serve patients with the highest standards of service, interact with them, and assist them. Pharmacy technicians must comply with the regulations of their profession and keep their credentials up to date.

Requirements

• Pharmacy Technician Diploma
• Pharmacy Technician License
• Pharmacy Technician Registration Certificate

Responsibilities

• Assisting the pharmacist with dispensing tasks under their direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Assisting the pharmacist with Pharmacy Department (prescription department) tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for using the prescription processing system to obtain patient and medication information in order to process claims to health plans in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist new pharmacy technicians in training on prescription operations.
• Be a role model and promote excellent patient service, a respectful work environment, and teamwork.
• Answer phone calls from patients and/or physicians that do not require the intervention of the pharmacist.
• Answer calls to health plans to complete prior authorization requirements, validate copays, coverage, and benefits.
