Summary: This position is a hands-on learning experience with the pharmacy staff as well as other teams within Memorial. The position consists of learning all the tasks associated with the pharmacy technician scope of practice. The Pharmacy Technician Student position requires enrollment and participation in the Florida Board of Pharmacy approved Technician Employer Training Program. Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
• Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work well with others in a team with minimal supervision. Demonstrate the ability to respond positively in a stressful environment and meet the physical demands of the department.
• No prior work experience required.
• Complete the Pharmacy Technician Employer Training Program and obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Florida within 6 months of starting the program.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students.
• Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays and kits.
• Processes medication charges/credits when applicable.
• Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable.
• Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriate
• Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories.
• Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice.
• Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas. Repackages bulk medications.
