As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will train under the direct supervision of a pharmacist while gaining hands-on experience in packaging, preparing and distributing medications, managing inventory, supporting customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. Over a paid 4½-month training period, you will learn the full scope of pharmacy operations—including prescription filling, carousel management and inventory processes—while completing coursework through the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program. At the end of the training period, you will earn a Pharmacy Technology diploma and be eligible to work as a registered or certified Pharmacy Technician. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm with no weekend, on-call or holiday requirements. This role pays a flat rate of $15 per hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy upon hire
  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within one year of hire
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
  • Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
