About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician 2 at UVA Health Pharmacy Ivy Road Retail is responsible for preparing and delivering medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. The role requires the technician to demonstrate competence in both general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Responsibilities include participating in the training of new employees, filling and delivering medications, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, maintaining adequate supplies for patient care, and triaging questions or issues to the appropriate staff. The technician must also ensure quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements and operate pharmacy equipment appropriately. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months relevant experience required.
• Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
• CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.

• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
