About The Position

Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. This position is being filled for the night shift, working 7 nights on, 7 nights off. This position is eligible for shift differentials, which provide additional compensation for all hours worked outside of normal 9-5 Monday-Friday hours. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Participates in the training of new employees. Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Policies and procedures are followed consistently. Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed. Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information. Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 6 months minimum relevant experience required
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
