About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I at Riverside Regional Medical Center is responsible for providing essential technical support for pharmacy services. This includes tasks such as distributing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, completing compliance audits, and maintaining pharmacy records. The role requires adherence to department policies and state/federal regulations while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary patient care team under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Manager.

Requirements

  • Education Program Graduate, Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Less than 1 year prior Pharmacy Technician experience (Preferred)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
  • PTCB or ExCPT Certification within 1 Year (Required)
  • Basic math skills, including pharmaceutical calculations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Medical terminology knowledge
  • Prescription drug and over-the-counter knowledge
  • Basic pharmacy workflow knowledge
  • Pharmacy automation experience
  • Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support of pharmacy services including receiving and confirming prescriptions, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and maintaining pharmacy records.
  • Performs inventory control and ensures proper storage and stocking of inventory.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice and workflows to provide quality patient care and meet safety standards.
  • Successfully completes annual state and facility requirements for mandatory competencies within required time frames.
  • Interacts with customers and peers utilizing excellent customer service skills, answering questions and owning issues to completion.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Utilizes Riverside Care Difference principles in performance of duties.
  • Properly measures and mixes medications, prints labels, and ensures safe dispensing.
  • Completes compliance audits and financial transactions.
  • Assists management with inspections, audits, reports, and training to ensure compliance and quality.
