Overview: Performs technical (non-judgmental) functions of drug preparation, drug distribution and drug charge control of inpatients, outpatients and associates in accordance with established standards set forth by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Should be familiar with the essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control and the usual technician functions associated with institutional drug distribution systems. This will include but not be limited to maintaining that all medications and supplies are in-date and stored per the manufacturer s recommendations in a clean and orderly manner. Should assist the Pharmacist in ordering and receiving all IV fluids and supplies from Materials Management. Will complete and document all cleanings of the IV suite and hoods per USP 797 Guidelines and institution s policies. Should be familiar with the essential technician functions associated with the dispensing of prescriptions for associates. Strictly complies with all HIPAA laws and guidelines. All other duties as outlined and/or allowed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy. Strictly abides by the legal requirement that all dispensing and/or compounding of medications by a Pharmacy Technician must be checked by a Pharmacist. Physical Effort: Maintains good physical well-being. Job responsibilities require some lifting of up to forty pounds, walking, standing, bending, and pushing of carts. Mental Effort: Maintains good mental well-being. Considerable amount of mental effort and concentration is required and varies from day to day with workload. Must be able to check own work and be able to adjust speed of work as the need requires. Subject to regular interruptions by nursing personnel, pharmacists and other technical personnel.
