POSITION SUMMARY:Assists the pharmacist in various aspects of pharmacy practice with the exception of clinical decision making. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Must be minimum of 18 years of age.Minimum Education:High School diploma or equivalent.License Required:Pharmacy TechnicianMust be registered with the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.orPharmaceutical Technician in TrainingMust register with the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as Pharmaceutical Technician in Training upon hire. Will participate in on-the-job training to acquire experience that is commensurate with the duties of employment.Minimum Qualifications:Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.One year hospital experience preferred.POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Record Keeping/BillingAbility to perform medication reconciliations and accurately document the provided information. Ability to properly check narcotics into an automated dispensing system (Pyxis).Understands pharmacy billing system and how to accumulate charges.Understands how to inventory Pyxis and resolve discrepancies.MedicationsAccurately orders medications for the hospital and clinics. Accurately prepares clinic orders. Performs medication outdates accurately and in a timely manner. Accurately delivers medications to the nurse and/or automated dispensing system. Checks the patient specific bins daily and remove any medications that do not belong to the patient.Will empty the return bins of all automated dispensing systems daily.Fills orders on the Pyxis fill sheets accurately, promptly and at the correct time.Knowledge of the pharmacy system for reordering medications and supplies.Properly files invoices and purchase orders.Ability to prepack medications in accordance with federal and state law.Accurately checks the infusion center schedule and properly orders the required medications.Intravenous (IV) Medication Understands the workflow of Intravenous preparation.Follows directions of the pharmacist on duty regarding the preparation of IV medications. Complies with USP 797 and USP 800 requirements. Delivers IV solutions to the correct location and at the specified time. The employee is cognizant of any past due, discontinued or outdated solutions or medications and reports them to the pharmacist on duty.Retrieves and credits all unused IV solutions and medications that have been discontinued when applicable. Chemotherapy PreparationWilling and able to complete chemotherapy preparation training and adhere to USP 800 standards and CVH policy.
