About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician’s role in the Pharmacy is to assist in the dispensing of medications within the legal guidelines of the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy regulations and 340B Federal Regulations, and all other assigned duties required to operate the CHCCW Pharmacy. The technician will be under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, except when assisting with direct prescription services for patients, which is under the direction of the Medical Director. Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Must be licensed as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or a “Pharmacy Technician in Training” by the State Board of Pharmacy, and license must be in good standing
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • This job frequently requires sitting and standing for long periods of time, handling papers, typing and operating computers and other office equipment
  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job including close vision and the ability to adjust focus frequently
  • Work is performed in a typical Pharmacy environment
  • Some travel may be required, as well as attendance at meetings/conferences
  • This position requires successful completion of substance abuse testing as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • It is preferred that a Certified Pharmacy Technician has (2) years’ experience

Responsibilities

  • Receive prescriptions from patients
  • Obtain all pertinent information required on the prescription and input the information from the prescriptions into the computer
  • Select the appropriate medications, count and label them, and have the Pharmacist check the final prescriptions before selling to patient
  • Be watchful for interactions or other problems targeted by the computer and notify the Pharmacist
  • Assist in inventory control by ordering medications from vendors and be responsible for reconciling the order against invoices when order is received in the Pharmacy
  • Enter all invoices into the Pharmacy computer for inventory control
  • Assist patients with any questions they may have
  • Assuring they receive all the medications they need regardless of ability to pay, explaining any applicable co-pays
  • Accurately handle the transactions in the register by correctly ringing sales and exchanging money
  • Transport the money out of the register to the clinic safe at the end of the day with the appropriate register tape reports
  • Stock and monitor all supplies required for operation of the Pharmacy
  • Answer phones and triage questions to the appropriate discipline
  • Assist with the conduction of the physical inventory of the Pharmacy
  • File Pharmacy logs, third party information and other information required to be kept by the Pharmacy
  • Pull patient charts from file, as needed
  • Receive, organize and dispense medications for patients qualifying for direct prescription services from pharmaceutical companies
  • Technicians may be requested to work in other areas of the clinic when deemed necessary
