The position is for a Pharmacy Technician in the Medication History Services department at Advocate Health. This is a full-time role primarily working second shift with every third weekend, on-site at Christ Medical Center. The technician will be responsible for obtaining medication histories and will work in atypical environments, focusing on remote medication histories. The role requires advanced skills and knowledge beyond those typically required for pharmacy technicians, including problem-solving technical issues and ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Serves as a resource for other pharmacy team members, physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments.
  • Problem solves complex problems and ensures issues are escalated and resolved.

  • Trains other team members in the specialized area.
  • Serves as the department liaison to system pharmacy teams.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcare Association.
  • Licensure in the state for which they provide medication history services.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy technician role.
  • Good mathematics skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service, problem resolution, and process development skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
