Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) typically within 60 days of hire or current enrollment in a PharmD program.
• Pharmacy Technician registration required per state law or facility policy.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a pharmacy technician or currently enrolled in a PharmD program.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the efficient operation of the pharmacy department by preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing guidance to less experienced technicians.
• Functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and may include responsibilities for controlled substances, billing, and precepting new staff.
• Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
• Prepares and fills medication orders, including controlled substances, under pharmacist supervision.
• Supports medication billing, charges, and inventory records.
• Prepares prepackaged and bulk medications with correct labeling.
• Oversees restocking and maintenance of pharmaceuticals in compliance with standards.
• Assists in training and competency assessments of new or junior technicians.
• Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
• Responds to inventory and regulatory documentation requirements.
