Manufacturing Time: 35% Manufactures, packages and labels drug products. Performance Expectations: 1. Manufactures, packages and labels drugs as per department guidelines. 2. Prepares sterile, parenteral products using aseptic techniques as per department guidelines. 3. Uses precautionary techniques in the handling and disposal of chemotherapeutic, biological and other pharmacologic agents as per department guidelines. 4. Compounds extemporaneous products according to departmental guidelines. 5. Accurately position labels on medications and products. 6. Distributes compounded products as per guidelines only after pharmacist has checked the product. 7. Ensure drugs are not expired as per departmental guidelines. 8. Ensure drugs are not expired for emergency drug boxes Distribution Time: 35% Distributes drugs, performing all usual technical functions associated with the drug distribution system. Performance Expectations: 1. Performs drug distribution process without error (e.g., patient bin distribution, IVPB, LVP distribution to patient server and refrigerator, restocking of narcotics in PYXIS units. 2. Delivers medications for area as established within time frames by department policy and procedures. 3. Updates all medications to reflect discharges, admissions and transfers throughout the shift. 4. Follows Federal, State and Departmental Policies and Procedures when handling narcotics. 5. Orders, receives and adjust stock for drugs and supplies as required in respective area. 6. Manages Intravenous drugs by receiving, distributing, recycling on a daily basis. 7. Identifies and remove prescriptions not picked up within 7 days and escalate to pharmacist for crediting within 72 hours. 8. Processes pharmacy requisitions accurately on a daily basis (e.g., complete forms for area, fill requisitions). 9. Stores securely all distributed medications for area as per guidelines. 10. Performs accurate pharmacy calculations and counting (e.g., anti-infectives, electrolytes, narcotics, script preparations) and verified with pharmacist. 11. Acknowledges delivery/receiving of Morning order Bins via QuickFlash. 12. Returns Grey bins/Robot med cart to Main Pharmacy when they are empty. Administration Time: 20% Maintains neat, accurate records, and assures proper care for the environment and equipment. Performance Expectations: 1. Maintains complete records for the environment and equipment. (e.g., hood cleaning, documentation, compounding log, refrigerator temperature monitoring) and report malfunction of equipment to pharmacist/supervisor. 2. Processes patient charges for use of Emergency Drug Boxes. 3. As per policy, takes daily inventory of narcotics and escalates discrepancies to pharmacist. 4. Maintains environment by cleaning hoods, countertops and counting machines. 5. Organizes drug supply by area specifications, rotates inventory and removes expired drugs. 6. Leaves work area adequately stocked and equipment in good working condition at end of shift. 7. Applies knowledge of principles of aseptic techniques by passing aseptic technique competency test as often as required by department policy. 8. Uses and maintains equipment within area as per department procedures. 9. Scans and charges drugs to appropriate cost center using pdad. 10. Maintains critical drug in assigned pharmacy satellite by monitoring par levels, and notifies Materials Manager of increased usage patterns. Professional Development/Education Time: 10% Completes projects and/or activities, which meet departmental criteria to maintain and advance professional competency based on divisional guidelines. Performance Expectations: 1. Attends/documents attendance of Pharmacy sponsored meetings, i.e. continuing education programs, grand rounds, and general staff meetings when coverage is available and workload permits. 5 hours of attendance or greater = Meets Expectation
