About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech I position at HCA Florida Northwest Hospital involves dispensing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and updating patient records under the supervision of a pharmacist. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy and the safety of medication delivery to patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 2 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Active Registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern, as per State requirements, with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy is required.

Responsibilities

  • Fill medication orders requested by physician or pharmacist and deliver to patient care and other areas.
  • Dispense controlled substances with proper documentation; count discrepancies and report any suspected diversions to the pharmacist.
  • Ensure there is an adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and related supplies in appropriate locations, rotating stock and replacing outdated and unusable drugs.
  • Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments; respond timely to urgent and routine requests.
