The Pharmacy vision is to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time. Each pharmacy team member is essential in ensuring that UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper Pharmacy exists to ensure safe, effective, and affordable medication use in our communities, one person at a time. The Pharmacy Technician serves as a part of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper and collaborates with other team members, to provide optimal care. The Technician accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Applicants without current Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy may enroll in the Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) online program. Prior to enrollment, applicant must pass reading comprehension and math pre-enrollment assessments in three attempts or less. A minimum score of 70% is required for each assessment prior to acceptance into the program. Experiential training completed at the pharmacy practice site and program prepares the team member to pass the national Pharmacy Technician certification exam. Candidates accepting a position in the Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) will continue in their role as a pharmacy technician after completing the program and achieving their Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Candidates must complete Pharmacy Technician University and achieve registration within 2 years of employment.
