About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician at Cherry Health plays a crucial role in supporting licensed pharmacists and dispensing prescribers by performing various pharmacy-related duties. This position is essential for maintaining quality control, preparing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy laws and standards. The technician will also engage in continuous education and training to enhance their skills and knowledge in pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • Full Michigan Pharmacy Technician license or ability to complete Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Basic Life Support/CPR training as per license and/or certification requirements.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Previous experience or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist or dispensing prescriber.
  • Conduct routine checks for maintenance of quality control in areas of work.
  • Follow departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manual.
  • Complete training to gain basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug therapies, calculations, and preparation of medications for patient consumption.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Prepare prescriptions in accordance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice.
  • Attend and participate in pharmacy technician meetings to exchange ideas and achieve departmental goals.
  • Update procedures in the pharmacy technician manual for training new personnel and quick reference.
  • Check and remove outdated medications to ensure no expired medications are in stock.
  • Complete required continuing education and stay updated with policy changes.
  • Adhere to the Agency's compliance standards as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and Agency regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
