About the position
The Pharmacy Technician (Certified) position at Food City involves various essential job functions including the successful completion of the Course Work and Examination for Certification from the PTCB or ICPT Pharmacy Certification Boards. The technician may receive oral prescriptions from prescribers or their authorized designees, provide efficient and courteous service to customers, answer telephone inquiries, and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist's expertise. Responsibilities also include receiving written prescriptions, gathering necessary information for prescription preparation, recording information, storing written prescription forms, entering data into the computer, stocking over-the-counter products, placing completed prescriptions in the pick-up area, assisting in preparing insurance claims, helping customers find products, maintaining a clean work area, and operating the cash register. Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Complete Course Work and Examination for Certification from the PTCB or ICPT Pharmacy Certification Boards.
- Receive oral prescriptions from prescribers or authorized designees if allowed by State Regulation.
- Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers.
- Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
- Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests.
- Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.
- Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.
- Store written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
- Enter data into computer.
- Stock over-the-counter products.
- Place completed prescriptions in pick-up area.
- Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.
- Help customers find over-the-counter products.
- Maintain a clean department and work area.
- Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.
- Operate cash register.
- Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
