About the position

The Pharmacy Technician (Certified) position at Food City involves various essential job functions aimed at providing efficient and courteous service to customers. The role requires successful completion of the Course Work and Examination for Certification from the PTCB or ICPT Pharmacy Certification Boards. Responsibilities include receiving oral prescriptions from prescribers, providing customer service, answering telephone inquiries, processing written prescriptions, and assisting in preparing insurance claims. The technician will also maintain a clean work area, stock pharmacy supplies, and operate the cash register.

Responsibilities

• Successful completion of the Course Work and Examination for Certification from the PTCB or ICPT Pharmacy Certification Boards.
• Receive oral prescriptions from prescribers or prescribers' authorized designees, if allowed by State Regulation and authorized by the Pharmacist in Charge.
• Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist's expertise or judgment.
• Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests.
• Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.
• Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.
• Store written prescriptions forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
• Enter data into computer.
• Stock over the counter products.
• Place completed prescriptions in pick-up area.
• Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.
• Help customers find over-the-counter products.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
• Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.
• Operate cash register.
• Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Certification from the PTCB or ICPT Pharmacy Certification Boards.
