About The Position

The Certified Pharmacy Technician at Roper St. Francis Healthcare plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications for both inpatient and outpatient services. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including processing medication orders, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. Requirements

• ExCPT Certification or PTCB certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required).
• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (preferred).

Nice To Haves

• Completion of pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs or state-approved programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patients in inpatient and outpatient service areas.
• Accept new written, faxed, or electronic prescription orders from prescribers.
• Enter and retrieve information from electronic health records or prescription processing systems.
• Ensure accurate billing related to medication orders.
• Prepare and affix labels, stock prescription drugs, and retrieve drugs from inventory.
• Count and pour drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist.
• Perform non-sterile drug compounding as per guidelines.
• Stock automated drug dispensing cabinets and crash carts.
• Transport medications to off-site locations as needed.
• Accept verbal refill authorizations for non-controlled substances as permitted by state law.
• Assist in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students.
• Perform diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
