About The Position

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician to join the Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy team. This role involves performing various technical and clerical pharmacy duties under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, with a focus on maintaining a positive image of the pharmacy within the hospital and the community. The position requires working 16 hours per pay period, including day/evening shifts and every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board or Current Intern License with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
  • PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee.

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepares, packages, labels, and delivers medications after they are checked by a registered pharmacist, intern, or qualified technician checker.
  • Correctly performs pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct doses are dispensed.
  • Aseptically prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products as requested (when trained).
  • Triages pharmacy phone calls and resolves issues as able.
  • Inspects and maintains medication supply throughout the facility, removing and replacing outdated medications.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrates good decision-making skills, problem-solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Maintains and improves pharmacy workflow.
  • Performs patient charging and other pharmacy financial activities when needed.
  • Uses and maintains pharmacy equipment, medication rooms, and work areas according to approved procedures.
  • Performs additional pharmacy technician duties as assigned.
