About The Position

The position involves overseeing pharmacy technician operations under the supervision of the Pharmacy Operations Manager at South Shore Hospital. The role focuses on maintaining safe staffing levels, managing technician workflows, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in both sterile and non-sterile compounding programs. The individual will also perform duties of a staff pharmacist as needed and support the overall goals of the pharmacy department.

Requirements

• Experience in pharmacy operations and technician supervision.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy compounding regulations and practices.
• Ability to manage and evaluate pharmacy technician performance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in pharmacy computer and automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedule adequate, appropriately trained technician staff per staffing plan and workload.
• Supervise all aspects of technician work across the organization.
• Maintain documentation and quality records related to compounding programs.
• Evaluate the work performance of technicians and make recommendations for personnel actions.
• Confront and resolve problems related to medication distribution and pharmacy supplies.
• Recommend changes to support departmental goals and increase efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new technician colleagues.
• Perform all functions and responsibilities as described in the staff pharmacist job description.
• Maintain good relationships with pharmacy staff to facilitate communication.
• Participate in pharmacy program and policy development.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work environment.
• Ensure operational excellence in the department.
