Administration of Human Resource Programs

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet the eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Major duties for the position include (but are not limited to): Managing day-to-day operations of the clinical pharmacy services within Pharmacy Outpatient and distributive services; Planning, organizing, assigning and reviewing work of subordinates; Conducting on-going and annual performance evaluation of subordinates; Interviewing applicants for vacancies, determining their suitability for the position and making recommendations to the Assistant and Chief of Pharmacy Service; Providing advice, counsel or instructions to subordinate employees on both work and administrative matters; Gathering statistical information and preparing periodic reports on assigned pharmacy programs; Monitoring and maintaining appropriate data and preparing report and correspondence in a complete, accurate and timely manner; Ensuring compliance with all Joint Commission, VACO, EEO regulations and local standards and guidelines as well as federal and state laws as staffing and resources permit; Assuring timely dispensing of medications to patients consistent with The Joint commission standards, VA requirements and federal/state laws; Evaluating physicians' orders as to appropriateness based on patient medication profiles, inputting information into computer system if assigned, dispensing medication in accordance with dosage form requirements; Assessing, planning and directing comprehensive Outpatient Pharmacy services to ensure proper coordination between the delivery of services and the overall delivery of health care; Preparing or aiding in preparing Investigational Drug Information Record Form for investigational drugs; Developing the environment and motivation for the participation of Pharmacy personnel in providing drug information to the medical center staff as deemed appropriate; Providing in-service education programs directed to the development of the Pharmacy staff and education of other health care disciplines; Recommending a full range of personnel actions such as promotions, placements, disciplinary actions, counseling and rating employees on their performance; Advising and assisting Pharmacy Service leadership in determining future budgetary, personnel, equipment and space requirements for the Outpatient pharmacy; Assuring provision of pharmaceutical care to patients and clinical services to medical staff to promote optimal patient care within the budget.
