The position supervises professional and support personnel in the provision of pharmacy services in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and correctional facilities. The role involves providing first-level administrative and technical supervision over pharmacy personnel, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordinating pharmacy services with other patient care activities. Responsibilities include planning and implementing pharmacy operations, resolving day-to-day issues related to drug use, and maintaining quality control measures. The incumbent will also be involved in interviewing, selecting, and training pharmacy staff, as well as managing budgets and participating in the orientation of pharmacy students and interns.

  • Supervise professional and support pharmacy personnel.
  • Plan and implement pharmacy operations and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate pharmacy services with other patient care activities.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of production and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Interview and select pharmacy personnel.
  • Orient and train new employees.
  • Schedule and assign staff to provide pharmacy services.
  • Provide technical guidance and administrative support to staff.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on proposed changes to the facility's drug formulary.
  • Conduct studies and recommend improvements in pharmacy methods.
  • Supervise or perform the ordering of drugs and supplies.
  • Participate in planning and implementing information systems for drug usage.
  • Design and maintain internal controls for narcotics and controlled drugs.
  • Prepare budget requests for the unit.
  • One year of experience as a Registered Pharmacist.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Pharmacist issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
  • Experience as a clinical pharmacist.
  • Experience in pharmacy administration.
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency or fellowship program.
