The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for providing direct supervision to pharmacists and certified, licensed, and skilled technical employees in outpatient Pharmacy practice areas. The Supervisor works alongside the staff processing and filling prescriptions, supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources, and ensures an efficient, smooth and safe operation focusing on practices surrounding prescription drug management. The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the operational, clinical, administrative, and financial aspects of Outpatient Pharmacy services related to the safe and effective management of prescription medication therapies.

Requirements

• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Strong clinical background in specialty pharmacy focused disease states preferred.
• One year of clinical pharmacy experience as a licensed pharmacist or completion of PGY1 by time of hire.
• Current knowledge of drug references, Joint Commission, ACHC, URAC, and other regulatory standards.
• Minimum of three years of professional clinical pharmacy experience at a retail or community pharmacy.
• Knowledge of 340B program.
• Good understanding of limited distribution restrictions, REMS program requirements, cold chain distribution and storage.
• Good problem solver with strong clinical skills necessary to educate and supervise staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Dependable in attendance and job performance.
• Current BLS or ACLS upon hire.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience including training and guiding other practitioners.
• Active registered pharmacist license in good standing with the CA Board of Pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

• Pharm.D. highly desirable.
• Pharm D degree from an ACPE certified school of pharmacy is required.
• Participation and membership in professional societies and organizations is desirable.
• Medication Therapy Management Experience.
• Licensed in other states.
• Knowledge of Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation standards.
• Immunization Certification.
• Certified Specialty Pharmacy.
• Ability to operate EPIC Willow Ambulatory (WAM) computer system.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to pharmacists and technical employees in outpatient Pharmacy practice areas.
• Analyze and resolve problems, interpret and implement policies.
• Ensure compliance with departmental goals and objectives, and all State and Federal Laws.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Outpatient Pharmacy.
• Work with pharmacy management to design, plan and implement pharmacy-related components.
• Plan and execute strategies to market and grow outpatient pharmacy services.
• Ensure optimal reimbursement for high-cost medications prescribed out of various UCI Health centers.
• Serve as the CA BOP Pharmacist-in-Charge.
