The Pharmacy summer intern will spend 5 weeks working with the inpatient pharmacy team and 5 weeks working with the outpatient pharmacy team to develop an understanding of the wide array of pharmacy services offered by the pharmacy enterprise. This experience can be altered to meet the needs and experience of the participant. The student will typically gain experience in operational tasks, as well as have the opportunity to shadow in more advanced roles such as clinical pharmacy or administration. The intern will help with small inventory management or clinical review projects, based upon the needs of the department.

  • Work with the inpatient pharmacy team for 5 weeks.
  • Work with the outpatient pharmacy team for 5 weeks.
  • Gain experience in operational tasks.
  • Shadow in advanced roles such as clinical pharmacy or administration.
  • Assist with small inventory management or clinical review projects.
  • Must have a valid pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern license.
  • Must meet one of the following: current CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkview's Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire.
  • 2 years experience in a healthcare-related field.
  • Currently enrolled in a nursing school having completed first clinical rotations.
  • Two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted.
  • Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred.
  • Two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role or a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation.
  • Acceptable accrediting agencies are CCNE or ACEN.
  • If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center, must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer skills and applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to critically think.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
  • Previous experience in direct patient care through work and/or school program.
