About The Position

This role is for a pharmacy student looking for an opportunity to advance their skills in a clinical setting at Alton Memorial Hospital. The experienced inpatient team at Alton Memorial Hospital provides exceptional care to a wide range of patients. Alton Memorial Hospital, established in 1937, is a full-service acute care hospital in Alton, Illinois, and serves surrounding communities in a five-county area. It offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, and ambulance services. Under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy Student (also referred to as Pharmacy Technician in the Role Purpose) has the primary responsibility of preparing drugs in unit-dose for IV/OR, inpatient, and ancillary areas. They assist staff pharmacists in physician order processing, dispensing medications, transporting medication supplies, and maintaining appropriate records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years
• Pharmacist Intern

Responsibilities

• Provides accurately prepared orders of pharmaceutical supplies by properly assembling orders and requisitions with the correct products.
• Provides accurately prepared sterile preparations by properly following procedures.
• Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation.
• Delivers IV solutions and medications to nursing divisions and ancillary departments.
• Maintains a clean, orderly and sufficiently stocked work area.
