About The Position

Job Title: Pharmacy Specialist Supervisor: Health Services Coordinator Department: Residential FLSA Status: Hourly Summary: Oversee the medication administration system and coordinate health services information with all appropriate parties.

Requirements

  • Maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, valid driver’s license and provide proof of automobile liability coverage.
  • Maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
  • Possess excellent research and writing skills.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate).
  • Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior secretarial experience, including typing and computer data entry knowledge required.
  • Medication Administration: Core A and B
  • CPR First Aid

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician A.S. or certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and values of KCARC through personal example, providing educational opportunities, communicating with honesty, inviting input and expecting mutual accountability.
  • Retrieve Baker Center incoming faxes and disbursement.
  • Coordinate medication needs of the participants with pharmacies as needed.
  • Receive all pharmacy deliveries ensuring accuracy of all medications by checking prescriptions and labels against e-MAR. Coordinate participant’s pharmaceutical needs with internal and external contacts as needed. Order, inventory and prepare packaged medicines for homes and work sites from pharmacy.
  • Coordinate meetings and route all necessary paperwork and approvals for the Human Rights Committee.
  • Coordinate and verify budget discretion with appropriate fiscal personnel for client medications.
  • Deliver meds as needed and complete all physical medication changes.
  • Carry the after-hours pharmacy phone.
  • Provide medication administration training to new hires and re-training to staff, as needed. Complete staff competency checks on medication administration.
  • Coordinate pharmacy reviews quarterly.
  • Maintain and model professionalism, appropriate work interactions with program participants and coworkers, confidentiality at all times, and a positive attitude within the work environment.
  • Perform medication audits at all residential sites.
  • Load approved Medical HRC documents to the BDDS Portal.
  • File Incident Reports for all medication errors and thoroughly investigate with documentation of investigation.
  • All other duties deemed necessary.
