The Pharmacy Resident interacts professionally as a pharmacist resident within an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals to provide support and leadership within the managed care environment and an academic setting. Essential Functions: Assist operations team in processing prior authorization requests and improving operational processes Develop innovative programs and contribute to ongoing projects by performing a variety of tasks as assigned by residency director to further support pharmacy’s role in supporting the CareSource mission of “transforming lives through innovative health and life services” Focus on producing high quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered pharmacy benefits through indirect patient care activities Assist in formulary management, including policy writing and creating coverage criteria Conduct pharmacoeconomic and health outcomes research to be presented at a professional conference Develop programs for members participating in Pharmacy MTM programs Apply pharmacoeconomic principles to optimize patient well-being through cost-effective medication use Review drug information literature to make evidence-based decisions Perform indirect patient care activities through various programs like MTM, drug utilization reviews, quality improvement, etc. Analyze market research to monitor and assess trends in specialty pharmacy, new drugs or drug technology, disease state management, managed care, patient care and clinical services Develop effective utilization management programs Participate with the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee Provide leadership to APPE students Work with PBMs, CMS, and drug manufacturers for pharmacy benefit design and utilization Compose and teach didactic lectures and/or provide continuing education presentations Assist with physician education programs regarding member benefits Assist members and their families with pharmacy benefits Contribute to efforts to improve member satisfaction Contribute to the development and completion of departmental goals and projects Contribute to pharmacy department operational needs on demand (prior authorization requests, appeals, medical reviews, etc.) PGY-2 pharmacy residents may participate in departmental projects and mentoring as assigned Perform any other job-related instructions, as requested
