This job concentrates on the development of clinical practice skills. The Resident actively participates in multidisciplinary patient care rounds and teaching conference where knowledge of the medication use process will be developed via patient care and distributive activities. The Resident develops knowledge of drug use policy and basic management skills. The Resident develops communication skills through writing assignments, presentations and day-to-day interactions with health care professionals.

Requirements

• Education Required - Graduate of an accredited College/School of Pharmacy
• Work Experience Required - none
• Certifications Required - License to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana
• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Assesses and cares for patients
• Manages medication therapy
• Verifies orders and dispenses medications
• Develops professional skills
• Completes job assignments and projects
• Maintains residency documentation
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
