About The Position

The purpose of this PGY1 residency program is to provide residents the opportunity to build upon their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education. Residents participate in numerous learning experiences, including providing patient care in various settings, completing a clinical research project, precepting pharmacy students and interns, and educating other disciplines. Upon completion of this program, pharmacy residents will be well-prepared for clinical pharmacy practice and patient care. The resident is responsible for optimizing patient care by promoting rational, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy. Residents must provide proof of education and have a State Pharmacy License at the start of the program.

Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy Pharmacy required
Pharmacist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Pharmacy Intern [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Experience with computer word processing 1-2 years required

Nice To Haves

Pharmacy experience 0-1 year preferred
Some experience with spreadsheets or databases and other computer software 1-2 years preferred

Responsibilities

Performs all duties associated with the Registered Pharmacist position within the scope of licensure.
Initiates and documents pharmacist interventions to change prescribing where required.
Participates in patient care rounds as appropriate.
Contributes to and participates in the department's medication use evaluation plan, including but not limited to Clinical Management Initiatives (CMI).
Reviews current medical/pharmacy literature regularly for recent developments in disease state therapeutics as well as new product development.
Provides health professionals with drug information and/or references.
