About The Position

JOB DESCRIPTION: The 340B Analyst will be responsible for daily operational 340B-related activities. This includes but is not limited to self-audits, policy and procedure development, education, program enhancement and optimization, reporting, supply-chain-support responsibilities, and split-billing duties. This position may serve as a lead on various 340B projects as needed. This position will also be responsible for developing and fostering working relationships with internal and external working counterparts to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency and promote program compliance. In this role, the position will be expected to develop an understanding and knowledge of Medicaid in-state and out-of-state requirements, evaluate patient 340B eligibility, and continue to develop and retain updated 340B knowledge and education. 340B areas of focus for this position may be focused around multiple settings (mixed-use, infusion, outpatient clinics, contract pharmacy, or in-house retail/specialty pharmacy) and/or in software cross-walking and maintenance with third-party split billing software vendor(s). Be involved in any and all 340B audits. Using Excel or a comparable data management program, filter out non-eligible transactions, including, but not limited to, drugs used to treat patients during inpatient care, Medicaid patients, drugs provided free by manufacturers, those provided at non-eligible locations, or prescriptions written by non-eligible providers. Ensure compliance with 340B Program requirements for qualified patients, drugs, and locations. Develop a thorough understanding of the 340B Program. Strive to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and internal support of the 340B Program. Continue to build knowledge of the health care and pharmacy services industry, and use that knowledge to identify ways and make recommendations to improve the 340B Program. Monitor, report, and analyze contract pharmacy 340B activities; provide financial reports to hospitals or other covered entities relative to financial impact and liabilities; make recommendations that would improve efficiency. Coordinate purchasing for split inventory within internal pharmacies. Develop and foster working relationships with internal working counterparts (IT, internal audit, results, accounting, and others) to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve program efficiency and promote program compliance. Provide data, information, and reports as needed for other business units within the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, index match, IF/THEN statements).
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience and strong passion for healthcare.
  • Ability to merge datasets.
  • Registration as a pharmacy technician is required.
  • Bachelors degree in information management, healthcare information, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent combination of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of the 340B program preferred.
  • 340B University Certified and 340B Apexus Advanced Operations Certified preferred.
