About The Position

The Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist performs the following duties to assigned sites across Mayo Midwest: accurately and efficiently procures and ensures an effective inventory of medications and supplies; assists with the management of medication shortages; processes medication recalls and the return of pharmaceuticals and/or their destruction; and performs the duties of a Pharmacy Purchasing Technician as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (business, management, accounting or related field) AND 2-years of pharmacy technician experience; OR
  • Two-year college degree (healthcare of business preferred) AND 4-years pharmacy technician experience; OR
  • High school diploma AND 6-years pharmacy technician experience.
  • A minimum of 2-years' experience in pharmacy purchasing and inventory control strongly preferred.
  • No history of drug abuse or misuse, or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
  • Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
  • Must be detail-oriented; able to prioritize work and able to work independently under general guidelines and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills; computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications; work collaboratively with others and work independently with minimal supervision.
