About The Position

Join our team at UPMC Presbyterian as a Pharmacy Operations Specialist and play a vital role in shaping the future of pharmacy services! In this dynamic position, you'll serve as a technician trainer, guiding and mentoring new onboarding staff to ensure excellence in patient care. When not training, you'll contribute to the smooth operation of our pharmacy by performing essential staffing duties. The shifts for this role may vary -approximately 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM-with an every-4th-weekend rotation, giving you variety and balance. Requirements

Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required OR Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program AND one of the following:
Two years of previous pharmacy technician experience
Enrollment in good standing as a pharmacy student
Demonstrated competency in all detailed aspects of the Pharmacy Operations Specialists DESIGNATED area which includes (Inventory Control, Chemotherapy, Medication Safety, Automation, Information Technology, etc)

Responsibilities

Serve as a technician trainer for new staff onboarding
Operational staffing when not training new team members
Experience in all areas of the pharmacy - IV room, OR, Controlled Substances, Phone Triage, Medication Delivery, Automation
Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Demonstrate a service orientation in all interpersonal relations. Conveys a positive, professional image at all times.
Use computer skills to process and document information as needed for Operations Specialist's designated area
