The position is accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. As a full-time certified pharmacy technician, the individual will operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers, adhering to company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Responsibilities include the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, leading training, coaching, and performance management, and making decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination.

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolves customer complaints and responds to requests in a timely manner.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Assists pharmacist in patient care delivery including registration, prescription data entry, and medication preparation.
  • Completes patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision.
  • Assists with healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines and health screenings.
  • Exercises independent judgment to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy.
  • Prepares and files reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
  • Manages core pharmacy workflow and drives excellence in operations.
  • Coordinates and organizes pharmacy daily schedule of activities.
  • Ensures the pharmacy is clean, neat, orderly, and stocked with adequate supplies.
  • Manages annual inventory preparation.
  • Drives new technology/process roll out and engages team around action planning.
  • Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist.
  • Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with insurance companies.
  • Manages Community Outreach Portal and coordinates off-site immunization clinics.
  • Leads performance management of technicians including discipline and termination decisions.
  • Monitors and holds pharmacy technicians accountable for timely training completion.
  • Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Previous people management/leadership experience.
  • Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
