About The Position

The Pharmacy manager demonstrates effective leadership, develops and supports growth of the Pharmacy team, and fosters a culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and service excellence. The Pharmacy Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the pharmacy department, ensuring safe, effective, and high‑quality medication use. This role oversees departmental performance, including workflow optimization, service delivery, staffing, and regulatory compliance. The manager leads short‑ and long‑term planning efforts to advance pharmacy services, support organizational goals, and strengthen clinical programs. Position Purpose: Manager of Pharmacy serves as the first level manager to plan, organize, staff, direct and ensure the provision of pharmaceutical care in collaboration with all members of the healthcare team. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy required.
Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Ohio.
Experience: Completion of a Pharmacy Residency training program or two years of practical, hands-on experience as a pharmacist in an organized health system pharmacy operation is required.
Effective Communication Skills
Abilities to assure quality, safety, productivity and operational costs.

Nice To Haves

Master of Science degree in Hospital Pharmacy or other advanced professional or management degree is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and administrative experience in a Pharmacy Services Department of comparable size and scope is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Pharmacy staff, other healthcare team members and within the Organization to develop goals and objectives, performance targets and strategic and business plans as appropriate for areas of responsibility.
Develops and/or implements new program and services in response to identified needs.
Ensures financial performance through the management of budgeted resources for areas of responsibility.
Directs quality and safety monitoring for designated areas, focusing on optimal patient outcomes, risk management, regulatory compliance.
Collaborate to develop and monitor clinical strategies to insure appropriate and responsible use of pharmaceutical agents and related products to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Provides coaching, direction, support and supervision for pharmacists, technical, and support staff.
Effectively recruits, provides developmental opportunities, counsels, retains, and evaluates performance of pharmacy staff.
Applies and supports the fair and consistent execution of Human Resources policies.
