The position is accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. The role serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician supervises pharmacy technicians and cashiers, ensuring compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations. The technician is also responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, leading training, coaching, and performance management.

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolves customer complaints and responds to requests in a timely manner.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Assists pharmacist in patient care delivery including registration, prescription data entry, and medication preparation.
  • Completes patient and physician calls under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Exercises independent judgment to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy.
  • Prepares and files reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
  • Manages core pharmacy workflow and drives excellence in operations.
  • Ensures compliance and execution of business administrative activities and inventory management tasks.
  • Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist.
  • Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with insurance companies.
  • Manages Community Outreach Portal and coordinates off-site immunization clinics.
  • Leads performance management of technicians including discipline and termination decisions.
  • Monitors and holds pharmacy technicians accountable for timely training completion.
  • Assists Pharmacy Manager in monitoring licensures and certifications.
  • Maintains PTCB certification and enhances knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Communicates with pharmacy team and participates in key store/pharmacy meetings.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Previous people management/leadership experience.
  • Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
