About The Position

Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations and distributive activities within the pharmacy to ensure safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients. The manager will work within the pharmacy leadership team to develop and execute department strategic and operational plans within budgetary targets and collaborate with other department leaders on process quality measurement and improvement initiatives. The manager will lead a team of pharmacists, technicians, and interns, managing various personnel functions and will ensure the department follows all federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree, Doctorate of Pharmacy (Required) or Bachelor's Degree, Pharmacy (Required)
  • 3-4 years Pharmacist experience in related practice setting (Required)
  • 2 years Supervisory experience (Required)
  • Licensed Pharmacist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP)
  • Licensed in the State of Virginia within 60 Days (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Monitors/supports personal and departmental productivity to meet needs of department/Center.
  • Completes or oversees staffing schedules to ensure sufficient staffing.
  • Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of payroll entries and work schedules.
  • Supervisory role for ensuring inventory management best practices are taught and staff is competent.
  • Responsible for participation in continuous quality improvement activities regarding medication management.
  • Assists in orchestration of management of shortages within the facility.
  • Responsible for oversight of nursing unit and department focused medication area inspections.
  • Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Actively participates in facility based committees in the director's absence or as delegated.
  • Covers shifts as needed in staffing shortages.
  • Manages personnel functions including scheduling, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and staff development.
  • Responsible for oversight of technician and pharmacist operational competence.
  • Actively engages staff, provides effective coaching/feedback, and holds staff accountable.
  • Effectively manages conflict between team members and encourages effective communication.
  • Addresses morale concerns and promotes a strong resilient team.
  • Partners with pharmacy leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintains adequate documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
