About The Position

The Pharmacy Manager serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and provides clinical, operational, and regulatory leadership for pharmacy services at Alliance Healthcare Services, a nonprofit community mental health provider serving Shelby County. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient pharmacy operations in support of integrated behavioral health care. The Pharmacy Manager balances hands-on pharmacy practice with leadership responsibilities and works collaboratively with medical, nursing, behavioral health, and administrative teams. Annual prescription volume is approximately 25,000 prescriptions per year, supported by 1–2 pharmacy technicians. This position is well-suited for a pharmacist seeking leadership responsibility in a mission-driven, non-retail environment with predictable hours and meaningful community impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Active, unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacist license
  • Eligibility and willingness to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)
  • Working knowledge of Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and federal pharmacy regulations

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge in accordance with Tennessee Board of Pharmacy and DEA requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and organizational pharmacy regulations
  • Maintain pharmacy licensure, permits, and controlled substance security
  • Serve as primary point of contact for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, workflow, staffing, and inventory management
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate pharmacy technicians and pharmacy staff
  • Ensure medication safety, quality assurance, and adherence to best practices
  • Dispense medications and provide patient counseling as needed
  • Collaborate with prescribers, nursing staff, and behavioral health teams to support coordinated patient care
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts
  • Assist with policy development, operational procedures, and workflow optimization
  • Participate in budgeting, cost containment, and inventory control efforts
  • Monitor pharmacy utilization and operational metrics
  • Support organizational initiatives related to compliance, efficiency, and patient care
