About The Position

To provide superior quality, competitive value, and outstanding service by providing the highest standard of quality medical care to Brevard Health Alliance (BHA) patients through the primary care medical home model. Pharmacy Manager is responsible for all pharmacy site related activities including filling orders for oral, parenteral, and enteral medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information while complying with the laws governing the practice of pharmacy. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and collaboration with all providers as well as clinical/front support team, provides extraordinary patient care through BHA Clinics.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree, Pharm D degree preferred.
  • Must have a current Florida license.
  • Clear and active Florida Pharmacist License
  • Current Pharmacist Immunization Certification
  • Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Pharmacy & POS software
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the information on treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) or more months of FQHC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets prescription orders (verbal and written). Maintains accurate, complete patient medication profiles
  • Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Ensures that all control drug policies and procedures are followed as required by State, Federal, and Company guidelines. In addition, ensure that policies and Federal and State laws and regulations in all prescription-related issues, including but not limited to HIPAA, are followed.
  • Responsible for compliance of the 340B Drug Discount Program
  • Works to ensure there are systems/mechanisms and internal controls are in place to reasonably ensure ongoing compliance with all 340B requirements
  • Assists with the following audit processes to assure compliance with the 340B regulations related to outpatient care by the covered entity
  • Assists with audits using the medical record to verify the patient received health care from a qualified provider. This provider must be contracted or credentialed by the covered entity.
  • Assists with audits using the covered entities medical record to verify the patient received health care in a qualified outpatient area
  • Assists with audits to verify the medication provided by the covered entity was an eligible medication and is able to be replenished at 340B cost under the program
  • Readiness for HRSA and manufacturers audits
  • Develops and executes regular auditing program
  • Evaluates necessary self-reporting and needed program changes
  • Seek new ways to grow, collaborate with others and deliver better outcomes
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with local medical community including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers. Participates in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Pharmacy Director to maintain departmental operating budget
  • Provide best-in-class pharmacy service to patients, empower your staff in providing value and service through counseling, building personalized relationships, promoting customer loyalty, offering pharmacist led clinical services to improve health and wellness and preventative care services
  • Motivate, inspire, and develop your Pharmacy Support Staff by balancing assignments that maximize colleagues’ strengths, address development opportunities, and decrease knowledge gaps. Promotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision.
  • Proactively advance pharmacy clinical initiatives including Medication Therapy Management (MTM), pharmacist point-of-care testing, immunizations, and diabetes management
  • Identify critical business opportunities and contribute to the development of meaningful solutions to drive growth and improve performance in your pharmacy
  • Primary preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents as it relates to clinical pharmacy services. Responsible for designing and managing program and mentoring student/resident as well as other preceptors.
  • Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintains current pharmacy licensure
  • Attends orientation, education, and training programs. Reviews literature and other materials pertinent to the practice of pharmacy
  • Maintains patient and department/BHA confidentiality
  • Documents all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely
  • Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; conducts quality monitors and inspections; and maintains log, records, and other documentation as assigned.
  • Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staffs
  • Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Participates in the performance appraisal of pharmacy support personnel.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision. Organizes and prioritizes work assignments. Ensures pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner.
  • Answers the telephone, identifying self and department. Directs calls to appropriate personnel. Answers requests at the window.
  • Keeps pharmacy areas and equipment clean, neat, and well organized
  • Attends pharmacy staff meetings and reads pertinent email communication
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Make sure Home/Site Delivery patients receive medications in a timely manner
