Additionally, the manager is tasked with overseeing an efficient pharmacy workflow, improving financial performance, managing inventory effectively, and enhancing the overall patient experience. In this position, the Pharmacy Manager engages with patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving any issues promptly to ensure a positive experience. They model customer service best practices and connect with patients by anticipating their needs, promoting healthcare services offered through Walgreens. The manager also participates in community events to reflect the unique needs of the local population. Operationally, the Pharmacy Manager counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, and interactions, while performing essential pharmacist tasks such as compounding and drug therapy reviews. They ensure compliance with regulations and company standards, manage pharmacy staff scheduling, and oversee the pharmacy's opening and closing procedures. The manager collaborates with the Store Manager to identify new business opportunities and maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems to support staff and patients effectively. People management is a critical aspect of this role, as the Pharmacy Manager collaborates with the Store Manager on hiring, training, and performance management of pharmacy staff. They are responsible for maintaining team morale, addressing employee relations concerns, and fostering a positive work environment. Continuous personal development is encouraged, with the manager expected to stay updated on pharmacy practices and complete required training. The Pharmacy Manager also analyzes performance data, manages pharmacy asset protection, and develops relationships with the local medical community to promote the pharmacy business. This role is vital in ensuring that Walgreens remains a neighborhood health destination, providing high-quality healthcare services to the community.
