The Pharmacy Manager Local Specialty provides pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on effective medication usage and drug interaction awareness. This role is responsible for the overall management of the pharmacy department, encompassing workflow, continuous quality improvement, policy adherence, regulatory compliance, sales, expense control, inventory management, and maintaining a positive image through accurate prescription filling and high-level patient service. The manager ensures a distinctive patient experience, handles inquiries and complaints, and works to improve prescription numbers, sales, and profit. Operational duties include reporting errors, managing inventory for limited distribution drugs, ensuring compliance with laws and company policies, implementing asset protection, maintaining department appearance, controlling cash, and assuring proper system and equipment operation. The role also involves managing third-party pharmacy business opportunities, resolving rejections, and adhering to buying procedures. Daily planning, scheduling, and business performance management through reporting are key. For health system locations, the manager assists the Registered Manager in collaborating with strategic account management to grow business. People and performance management responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, performance improvement, discipline, EEO compliance, payroll budget management, supervision, ensuring proper licensure and training of staff, and reinforcing good faith dispensing. The manager is also expected to engage in personal development, maintain relationships with health professionals, and administer community and professional relations programs.
